The DeVos family is one of the most successful in the United States. It is a family name the business world is all too familiar with. One of the lesser known facts about the accomplished family is their passion to give back to those less fortunate. The family was ranked by Forbes as the 24th on its “America’s Top Givers” list.
Particularly, husband and wife Dick and Betsy DeVos have done a lot to help others in need of assistance. Recently, they announced they spent $139 million on philanthropy efforts over the years. Many people gasped at this amount, but the married couple consider it to be funds well spent.
Both have a strong interest in politics, which should come as no surprise considering the DeVos family as a whole has had their hands in Republican politics for decades. They have made several substantial political donations as well. Each of which pale in comparison to their charitable donations. The couple gave more than $11 million to charitable causes in the year 2015.
Betsy DeVos, a U.S. Education Secretary nominee, clearly perceives education as a priority, and her husband happily supports her. They’ve doled out $3 million to the betterment of education. Which is nothing to sneeze at considering the percent educational causes account for in their philanthropy efforts. They have made it a point of their to reform the school system’s one size fits all approach to educating.

Dick DeVos is the son of Richard DeVos, co-founder of multi level marketing company Amway. Once he gained some business experience, Dick DeVos was brought on by his father to serve as CEO in 1993. he held the position for nine years before leaving the company.
